孙犁的《耕堂劫后十种：秀露集》《干巴》
孙犁的《耕堂劫后十种：秀露集》《干巴》一文里记录，干巴穷（其实那时大家都穷，只是干巴在穷人里，是更穷的而已），老婆生下孩子后没有吃的，死了，于是他便抚养孩子，其实这里不能叫“抚养”，最多只能说成是“养”。由于孩子瘦弱，与村里小孩不和群，还常被其他小孩欺负，一个人下河洗澡时被淹死了，然后干巴又靠卖豆腐糊口，并干起了“副业”：掩埋村里因病或其它原因死去的孩子。其中一段描述：“母亲们看着孩子死去了，掉下两点眼泪，就去找干巴，叫他帮忙把孩子埋了去。干巴赶紧放下活计，背上铁铲，来到这家，用一片破炕席或一个破席锅盖，把孩子裹好，挟在腋下，安慰母亲一句：‘他婶子，不要难过。我把他埋得深深的，你放心吧！’就走到村外去了。其实，在那些年月，母亲们对死去一个不成年的孩子，也不很伤心，视若平常，因为她们在生活上遇到的苦难太多，孩子们累得她们也够受了。”通篇文章，孙犁写人死时都没有多一字笔墨描写死的情况，只说“死了”，也没有加入太多的个人情感。只是平铺的描述、说事。但看后，让人心理莫名的不畅。
我想，对于人类开说，灾难的大与小，多用死人的多少来评定；对于家庭来说，没有比死去亲人更难过的事了。但孙犁描述当时的社会下，好象死一两个人是再正常不过了，因为有各种看起来非常顺理成章的“理由”与“条件”，人们也可能伤心的太多了，以至于对于死几人都不那么伤心了。
自已家死一两个人都“正常”，他人之事，当然恝然于心，生活在这样的社会背景下，是多么的悲凉，当然也是无法选择的。
